Mechanical Engineer

Mechanical Maintenance Engineer Mon to Friday – 06:00 – 14:30 (based on a 40-hour week and on call rota to include weekends) Call out rota at weekends to be confirmed by direct manager. The engineering team are responsible for the maintenance and repair of Production machinery, process equipment, buildings and site civils The individual working within the team of engineers need to ensure: Adherence to safe working practices Timely response to breakdowns High quality of maintenance and repair A proactive approach to improving machinery efficiency and effectiveness. Key Areas of Responsibility Adhere to the Site Health & Safety policy in all work activities * Completing Planned Maintenance tasks and recording of corrective actions on the computer-based Maintenance system * Ensuring that time keeping, and punctuality is maintained at an acceptable level. * Reaction to breakdowns ensuring quickest possible response and rectification * Organisation of maintenance and improvement works * Ensure all breakdowns are recorded along with the time and type * Ensure stock levels are maintained to a reasonable economic level, ensuring common failure parts are available by identifying parts required and upcoming issues are identified to the Engineering Leader * Supervise contractors ensuring safe systems of work are followed * Responsible for Pump repairs / refurbishment and any new installations and fabrications work * Completion of timely, accurate paperwork * Assistance with project work with Engineering Manager Essential Relevant Engineering qualification (Electrical, Mechanical) and/or Experienced time served Engineer * Ability to read and interpret all Engineering Drawings * Development and Implementation of 'Safe Systems of Work' * Experienced in using Maintenance Management System * Directing and supervising of Contractors * Computer Literate * Motivated Self - Starter with good Communication skills * Work at heights * Cultural fit. * Reliability, discretion, diplomatic manner, and impartiality of judgment * Duties outside of normal working hours. * Travel - Driving licence for visits to suppliers/contractors etc. may be required Desirable Food industry experience, working knowledge of Steam Systems Welding ability
